A playback control unit (17) starts monitoring a playback state of a multimedia title which is being played back by a playback unit (16). If a specific navigation command attached to the multimedia title which is being played back is executed, the playback state is stored in a local storage (13) at the time when the command is executed. Further, the playback control unit (17) determines whether or not the multimedia title being played back by the playback unit (16) is an HDMV movie title. If the multimedia title is an HDMV movie title, the playback state thereof is stored in the local storage (13). On the basis of the playback state associated with the execution of the specific navigation command, and register information of the HDMV movie title, resume playback corresponding to the multimedia title to be played back is executed. With this configuration, even if an HDMV interactive title of BD-ROM is resume played back, there are no drawbacks such as a graphic not being displayed, etc.
