摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cutoff area of margin portions to enhance the quality of the external appearance; and to prevent the welding failure due to deformations of the margin portions. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of members to be welded 11 and 12 each including an abutment surface and the margin portion 14 having a welding surface that is continuous to the abutment surface is prepared, a welding tool 13 integrally including a probe portion 23 formed on a leading end surface 22A of a shoulder portion 22 is prepared, the abutment surface and the welding surface are brought into contact with each other and the members to be welded 11 and 12 are held so as to form a continuous welding line therebetween, and under this state, a load supporting jig portion 27 for supporting the pressing load of the welding tool 13 is set on a back surface 26 side of the margin portion 14 while setting a deformation restricting jig portion 28 for restricting deformation of the margin portion 14 to a surface 21 side of the margin portion 14 on the surface 21 side of the margin portion 14, and then, the welding tool 13 is pressed against a surface 19 of the members to be welded while rotating the welding tool 13, and the welding tool 13 is moved along the welding line until the welding tool 13 reaches the margin portion 14 to thereby join the members to be welded 11 and 12 to each other and join the margin portions 14 to each other by friction stir welding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
