<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an outboard motor to decrease ship operator's operation load at shift lever operation by appropriately executing control to decrease driving force of an internal combustion engine, and to prevent the stall of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The outboard motor has an internal combustion engine equipped with a plurality of cylinders and freely switches a shift position between an in-gear position that is engaged with a forward and back moving gear and transmits the driving force of the internal combustion engine to a propeller and a neutral position that cuts off transmission of the driving force. When a neutral operation in which the shift position is switched from the in-gear position to the neutral position is detected, driving force decreasing control to decrease the driving force of the internal combustion engine is executed (S206-S210); and a variation range DNE of an engine speed NE of the internal combustion engine is detected during the driving force decreasing control, and the number of the cylinders to execute the driving force decreasing control out of the plurality of the cylinders is changed based on the variation range DNE of the detected engine speed (S226). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
