The invention specifies a switch for a high-voltage direct current transmission path, which has a vacuum circuit breaker (3) for disconnecting the transmission path and a gas-insulated circuit breaker (5) for disconnecting the transmission path, wherein the gas-insulated circuit breaker (5) is arranged in series with the vacuum circuit breaker (3).
