The invention provides a speed change controller for a saddle-ride type vehicle (1) comprising a detection mechanism (400) detecting operation by a driver for speed change; and a speed change mechanism performing speed change on the basis of speed change operation detected by the detection mechanism. The detection mechanism comprises an operation part which is manipulated by a foot of a rider, and a detection unit (422,423) that detects the manipulation by foot. The operation part comprises a moving part (408) which moves relative to the vehicle on the basis of the manipulation by foot and a shift pedal (410) directly manipulated by the foot. The moving part and the shift pedal are made of separate parts. The operation part further comprises a link member (480) linking the shift pedal with the moving part.
