PURPOSE: A device and method for sensing dust in a vacuum cleaner are provided to offer users with information on the pollution of a floor by calculating the amount of the dust per unit volume. CONSTITUTION: A device(100) for sensing dust in a vacuum cleaner comprises a dust sensor(110), a current meter(120), a unit(130) for calculating the amount of dust, and a display(140). The dust sensor is installed in a suction tube to sense the dust. The current meter is installed in the suction tube to detect the flow of air. The unit for calculating the amount of the dust receives a detect signal from the dust sensor, and is operated by receiving the signal on the speed of inflow air.
