PURPOSE: A hydraulic control apparatus for an automatic transmission is provided to control a low cost brake accurately by performing the flow quantity control and the ON/OFF operation of working fluid supplied to the low cost brake. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic control apparatus for an automatic transmission comprises a flow quantity control solenoid valve(70), an ON/OFF solenoid valve(50), and a switch valve(80). The flow quantity control solenoid valve detects the supply of working fluid for an input clutch. The ON/OFF solenoid valve determines the supply of working fluid supplied to a low cost brake(10). The switch valve is controlled by the working fluid supplied from the ON/OFF solenoid valve and converts the flow direction of the working fluid into the input clutch or the low cost brake.
