A medical instrument has a handle 2 on which at least one electric switch is arranged. This switch has an annular mechanical actuation unit 8 whose outer side forms a grip surface running peripherally of the handle. The switch may be a push switch or a rotary switch or a combination of the two. Movement of the actuator may directly operate the switch but preferably is detected by a sensor, which may be optoelectronic, piezoelectric or magnetic. In a magnetic embodiment, six cylindrical rod magnets (30, figure 2) are uniformly distributed in a ring inside the actuation unit and have alternately arranged poling. Rotation of the actuation unit is detected by Hall sensors (44) which sense the change in the magnetic field. The sensors are held by yoke elements (40) which may be ferromagnetic. The handle is particularly for use with an endoscope.
|
