<p>PURPOSE: A device for judging the dissolution of an arc furnace is provided to reduce unnecessary energy consumption because the completion of a scrap is judged when a state in which signal components of frequency-intensity signals are existed in an region of the same lasts for predetermined hours. CONSTITUTION: A device for judging the dissolution of an arc furnace comprises a sound detecting member(71), a frequency analyzing member(72), and a judging member(4). The sound detecting detects sound within an arc furnace, thereby outputting sound signals corresponding to the intensity of the detected sounds. The frequency analyzing member analyzes the frequencies of the sound signals, thereby obtaining frequency-intensity signals. The completion of a scrap is judged by the judging member when the intensity of signal components of an area around the frequency of the even multiplication of fundamental frequencies among the frequency-intensity signals is increased in comparison of the intensity of the signal components of each area of high frequency side and low frequency side closed to the area by lasting for predetermined hours.
