PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing hydroxy cinnamic acid is provided to enhance whitening effect without irritation to skin. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains hydroxyl cinnamic acid and cosmetologically acceptable carriers. The hyroxy cinnamic acid is isolated from red ginseng, white ginseng, raw ginseng, or ginseng leaves or fruits using purified water, anhydrous or hydrous alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, ethyl acetate, acetone, hexane, or glycerine solvent. The composition is manufactured in the form of a skin softener, astringent, nutrition cream, massage cream, essence, lotion, eyecream, eye essence, makeup base, foundation, powder, cleansing cream, oil, pack, external use ointment, paste, gel, soap, spray, body lotion, body cream, body oil, or body essence.
