PURPOSE: An automatic focusing device is provided to obtain images in focus by photographing a subject moving to an optical axis of a camera and to detect a speed of a moving body even a backlash for an automatic focus control is existed. CONSTITUTION: An automatic focusing device comprises a focal lens, a driving unit, a photographing element, a focus evaluation value calculating unit, a peak position detecting unit, and a computing unit. The driving unit drives the focal lens. The photographing element generates image signal by photographing optical signals transmitted through the focal lens. The focus evaluation value calculation unit calculates a focus evaluation value with respect to a focal state based on the image signals. The peak position detecting unit detects a target position of the focal lens corresponding to a peak of the focus evaluation value. The computing unit drives the focal lens to a first direction, thereby performing a predicted computation of a moving body by using the obtained peak position. |
