PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for adjusting an illumination are provided to effectively save the energy of a designated space by adjusting the illumination of the designated space depending on motion and illuminance. CONSTITUTION: An illumination adjusting apparatus(100) includes a central control unit(102), a communication terminal(104), a storage media(106), a lighting part(108), a sunlight control part(110) and a communication module(112). The lighting part includes an illumination, an illuminance sensor and a motion detection sensor. The central control unit provides a control signal adjusting the illumination with a first area illumination value and a second area illumination value to the lighting part. The central control unit determines the heading direction of an object according to a motion sensing value.
