PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting partial discharge are provided to prevent malfunction of a power device or a PD(Partial Discharge) coupler by detecting a partial discharge signal of the power device. CONSTITUTION: A PD coupler(10) is connected to a ground side of a power device. The PD coupler eliminates a low frequency noise component including a commercial frequency from an AC component flowing through the ground side of the power device. The PD coupler generates partial discharge analog signals by passing through the high frequency component included in the AC component. A PD detection unit(20) eliminate noise signals from the partial discharge analog signals generated by the PD coupler and detects only the partial discharge signals.
