A method for defrosting, or defogging, a vehicle windscreen directs a stream of heated air towards the windscreen 10 from a vent 24. The vent comprises at least one adjustable air flow guide 26 to change the direction of the air stream according to a predetermined pattern (fig 5); with a higher amount of heated air directed towards the drivers side 36. The predetermined pattern consists of a lateral sweeping motion across the windshield, with a lower rate of change of direction while directed towards the drivers side. Alternatively the vent can comprise an actuator 30, 32 and the adjustable air flow guide consists of a number of parallel guide vanes 28. The vent is located in the lateral centre of the dashboard. The actuator may be a stepper motor 30 having a controller to make adjustments according to the predetermined pattern. |
