PURPOSE: A battery charging apparatus is provided to charge a high voltage battery and a subsidiary battery together with one AC power supply by using a power conversion structure separating power using different turn ratios of a transformer. CONSTITUTION: A hybrid power conversion unit(221) converts AC power supply(21) into a first voltage and a second voltage to charge a high voltage battery(24) and a subsidiary battery(23) using a transformer for common use. A high voltage charger(222) charges the high voltage battery by stepping down the first voltage. A subsidiary voltage charger(223) steps down the voltage of the high voltage battery or the second voltage. A switching unit(224) switches the electrical connection between the AC power supply and the subsidiary voltage charger. The switching unit switches the electrical connection between the high voltage battery and the subsidiary voltage charger.
