<p>The method involves inserting profile elements (10) in a press, where adhesive surfaces (12) of the profile elements are faced to each other. A heater (30) in a space is moved between the adhesive surfaces to activate thermally activatable adhesive, and jaws (18) of the press are moved against each other. The adhesive surfaces are pressed against each other. The adhesive is contactlessly heated by radiation from a radiation source (38) of the heater, and temperature of the adhesive surfaces is contactlessly measured by utilizing an infrared sensor (46).
