<p>Apparatus for fatigue or mechanical friction damping measurement testing a specimen 6 comprises a body 2 having opposing arms 2a, 2b, defining between them a space 4 for receiving the specimen 6, one of the opposing arms 2b having a fixture for securing the specimen, another of the opposing arms 2a having a further fixture 12 for securing the specimen, the further fixture being adjustable by actuator 10 to increase or decrease the relative distance between the two fixtures, wherein the body 2 comprises an assigned vibration location 15 to which excitation signals from exciter 8 are applied during testing. The exciter may be a tuned mass and piezoelectric vibrator. Used for high cycle and low cycle fatigue testing of turbine rotor blades, fan aerofoils or stators.</p> |
