PURPOSE: A wireless channel state estimating method, an apparatus thereof, and a coding rate controlling method on a wireless network are provided to estimate a channel state of a wireless network by using additional information including signal strength information, wireless information, and modulating method information. CONSTITUTION: A channel estimator(110) estimates bit error rate by using additional information about a received video packet. The channel estimator estimates channel capacity of a wireless network by using the estimated bit error rate. A decoding unit(120) sets up channel coding rate based on the estimated channel capacity. The decoding unit performs channel coding about the video packet through the wireless network. The decoding unit decodes a video.
