<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED unit with less luminance unevenness of light emitted from a side surface side of the LED unit, and a lighting apparatus using the same. <P>SOLUTION: An LED unit comprises a tabular base 1; a light-emitting apparatus 3 arranged on a surface side of the base 1 and using LED chips; and a bottomed cylindrical cover 20 attached to the base 1 and having a function to transmit light emitted from the lighting apparatus 3.
