Provided are a lifting and collecting container and a lifting and collecting method, the container and the method being capable of lifting and collecting a munition, which has been dumped in the sea, using a simple configuration while more reliably preventing the leakage of a chemical agent from the munition. A lifting and collecting container is provided with: a container body (30); a lid (40) for closing the opening of the container body (30); a gasket (70) consisting of a member which can be compressed and deformed and closing the gap between the inner surface (33) of the container body (30) and the lid (40) from the outside in a specific direction; and a gasket presser (50) for gripping the gasket (70) between the gasket presser (50) and the lid (40). The container body (30) is provided with: a lid holding section (33b) for holding the lid (40) so that the lid (40) can be displaced outward in a specific direction relative to the container body (30); and a gasket presser holding section (34b) for holding the gasket presser (50) in such a manner that the lid (40) is displaced outward in a specific direction relative to the gasket presser (50) as the water pressure decreases. The gasket (70) is compressed and deformed by relative displacement of the lid (40) to seal the gap between the inner surface (33) of the container body (30) and the lid (40).
