To test the transverse flanges terminating the cylindrical wall of the workpiece (1), the installation comprises a structure (23) in the form of a U-shaped or C-shaped stirrup (24) whose opposite branches (26, 27) carry respectively the ultrasound emitter transducer (21) and receiver transducer (22), aligned with respect to one another, while leaving between them an internal space (32) for the relative passage of the flange to be tested (3, 4), and whose base (28) is mounted articulated at the extremity of a mobile control arm (25). The installation also comprises an immersion canister (36) comprising two parts (37, 38) assembled together by a closure means (40), one (38) of the parts exhibiting cutouts (41) for engaging the transverse flange and for overlapping, with the other part (37), said flange up to the cylindrical wall of the workpiece.
