REGISTRATION METHOD AND RETRIEVAL METHOD OF DOCUMENT IMAGE DATABASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improvements for solving a problem of a memory efficiency and discrimination power of a feature amount of Locally Likely Arrangement Hashing (LLAH) that becomes obvious with scale-up of document image database, and to solve such problems that LLAH requires a large amount of memory for attaining high robustness and the discrimination power and stability of the feature amount is not sufficient for coping with the scale-up.

SOLUTION: The following three improvements are made. The first improvement is reduction of the required amount of memory by sampling feature points stored in the hash. The second improvement is improvement of the discrimination power by increasing the number of dimensions of the feature amount. The third improvement is improvement of stability by reducing the dimensions having redundancy out of the feature amount.
