RECORDING MEDIUM REPRODUCING DEVICE, RECORDING MEDIUM REPRODUCING METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium reproducing device capable of executing resume reproduction of an optimal system.

SOLUTION: A recording medium reproducing device 100 comprises: a pickup 11 for reading contents and a BD-J application from a BD-ROM 10; a BD-J application executing section 151 that executes the BD-J application and is capable of executing resume reproduction; a simple reproducing section 152 capable of executing simple resume reproduction without activating the BD-J application; and a reproduction control section 155 for determining whether or not the BD-J application has function of the resume reproduction. In a case where the BD-J application is determined to have the function of the resume reproduction, the reproduction control section 155 causes the BD-J application executing section 151 to execute the resume reproduction. In a case where the BD-J application is determined to not have the function of the resume reproduction, the reproduction control section 155 causes the simple reproducing section 152 to execute the simple resume reproduction.
