This design assistance device has: a design information recording means that records design information including at least topology information and information of slave devices in a network system according to a design produced by a user; an actual configuration information generation means that generates actual configuration information containing at least topology information and information of slave devices in an actual network system on the basis of information a master device collected from each slave device in the actual network system; a comparison means that compares the design information and the actual configuration information; and an output means that, on the basis of the comparison results of the comparison means, generates a comparison screen indicating the designed configuration of the network system and the configuration of the actual network system, as well as the differences and commonalities thereof, and outputs the comparison screen to a display device. As a result, it is possible to provide a technology that assists the comparison of a designed network configuration and an actual network configuration in a manner so that a user can easily perform the comparison.
