The method involves monitoring a region concerning occurrence of hazard by several hazard sensors equipped at various positions in emergency exit direction displays within region, which are connected to emergency power supply system. The measurement signals of hazard sensors are transmitted over emergency network to a risk center. The escape route direction displays are controlled by risk center which is connected to emergency power supply system as a function of measurement signals of hazard sensors by sending control signals to emergency exit direction displays over emergency network. An independent claim is included for device for controlling emergency exit control system.
