<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which is manufactured through easy processes and allows simple verification, and also provide the verification method. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element comprises a form birefringence structure and a light reflection layer placed thereon, where areas with an equal thickness of the light reflection layer represent a character or a pattern.
