<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyalkyleneglycol derivative for the use as a lubricant, more specifically, as a lubricant for a compression type refrigerator. <P>SOLUTION: The use of a borate ester of formula (III) as a dehydrating agent for a lubricant used with refrigerant is provided.
