<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jam detecting device, an image forming apparatus and a jam detecting method, that allow inexpensive manufacturing without upsizing the device. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of this embodiment includes a roll paper support device for rotatably supporting a recording medium being a roll-like paper medium, a first carrying guide arranged on the crest side of a curl of the recording medium and a second carrying guide arranged on the trough side of the curl of the recording medium, for regulating a carrying position of the recording medium, a recording medium carrying device for carrying the recording medium, an image forming part for forming an image on the recording medium, a cutter for cutting the recording medium, a groove part arranged in the vertical direction to a recording medium carrying surface of the first carrying guide, that is, in the vertical direction to the recording medium carrying direction, a reflection type sensor arranged at an angle to the vertical direction to the recording medium carrying direction inside the groove part, a carrying device driving part for driving the recording medium carrying device, a cutter driving part for driving the cutter, and a control part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
