A method for producing an insect-proof fiber (10), said method at least comprising: a master batch preparation step for melt blending an olefin-based polymer (1), a pyrethroid insecticide (2) and a sublimation substance (3) at a temperature not higher than the boiling point of the sublimation substance (3) to give a master batch (4); a pellet preparation step for melt blending the master batch (4) and the olefin-based polymer (1) at 195-218oC inclusive, i.e., in the vicinity of the boiling point of the sublimation substance (3), to give pellets (5); and a spinning step for setting the temperature of the pellets (5) to 195-218oC inclusive, i.e., in the vicinity of the boiling point of the sublimation substance, and melt spinning the pellets (5).
