<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing implement including a friction body which enables anyone, irrespective of age or sex, to reliably and easily change the color of thermochromic handwriting by frictional heat. <P>SOLUTION: The writing implement includes the friction body made of a soft synthetic resin, which rubs the thermochromic handwriting formed on the surface of paper, using thermochromic ink, and thermally changes the color of the thermochromic handwriting by the frictional heat generated, and which is provided in a part of the writing implement including the thermochromic ink and discharging the ink. The thermal conductivity of a friction part of the friction body is set in a range of 0.05 to 1.0 W/(m-K), and the friction coefficient of the friction part of the friction body in relation to the surface of paper is set in a range of 0.2-1.0.
