<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that allows a light source unit to be miniaturized, and a projection video display device. <P>SOLUTION: A synthesizing unit 130 is arranged on an optical path of light emitted by a plurality of light sources 12B and has a plurality of polarization mirrors 131 respectively corresponding to the plurality of light sources 12B. Each of the plurality of polarization mirrors 131 is configured to pass light of first polarization and reflect light of second polarization.
