<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle bumper device with a collision load sensor having an expanded dynamic range. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle bumper device 10 with a collision detecting sensor includes a bumper absorber 11 arranged between a bumper reinforcement 12 and a bumper cover 13 and a collision detecting sensor 14 arranged in a front end surface of the bumper reinforcement 12. The collision detecting sensor 14 comprises a load sensor, and a sheet member 20 having dilatant characteristic and extending in the vehicle width direction is arranged in the bumper absorber 11. In the high speed collision against a pedestrian or an opponent vehicle, the dilatant characteristic sheet member 20 is hardened for a moment, and in a deformation region where the deformation of the bumper absorber 11 is equal to or above a prescribed deformation (a), a load/deformation characteristic A rises with a large inclination compared to a characteristic R when there is only an absorber without the dilatant characteristic sheet member.
