An illumination device according to the embodiments is provided with a base member (2), a light source (6) disposed on the front surface of the base member, and a light guide (7) provided so as to cover at least part of the light source and guide at least some of the light that the light source emits towards the front. The light guide has a light emission surface that is directly exposed to the outside of the device and emits the light guided by the light guide in directions towards the sides and rear relative to the light source.
