Provided is a nail region detection device which comprises: a colour camera (61); an image data storage unit (71); a colour specification conversion plotting unit (73) for converting captured image data from the RGB colour specification system to the HLS colour specification system; a threshold value setting unit (74) for setting and varying a threshold value for the H axis with respect to a first plotting region; a second plotting unit (75) for replotting, on a two-dimensional planar second graph, plotting data items which are equal to or greater than the threshold value of the first plotting region; a detection unit (76) for detecting the physical quantity or ratio of a plurality of second plotting regions in the second graph; a repeat control unit (77) for repeating processing for replotting the data items which are equal to or greater than the threshold value and detecting the physical quantity or ratio, while the threshold value is varied by the threshold value setting unit (74); and a nail determination unit (78) for determining, as a nail region, a second plotting region in which the gradient of the amount of variation in the physical quantity or ratio is equal to or less than a predetermined value. |
