The device comprises a number of nanoscale or micron-sized wires (2) formed by a semiconductor chosen from silicon, germanium and a silicon-germanium alloy. The device furthermore comprises pellets (3) that increase the strength of the device and its optical absorption properties. The pellets (3) are between 100 nm and 1 µm in diameter and they consist of spherical agglomerates of zinc-oxide particles that are between 10 nm and 200 nm in diameter. The pellets (3) are, in particular, obtained by submerging the wires in a bath containing an alcohol-based solvent and zinc acetate, under temperature and pressure conditions that keep the alcohol-based solvent in the liquid state, and by heating the wires transforming the zinc acetate into zinc oxide. |
