This RFID reader/writer (10) is provided with a transmission unit (11) for transmitting a transmission signal to an RFID tag, and a reception unit (12) for receiving a reception signal from the RFID tag on the basis of the transmitted signal. The transmission unit (11) transmits a carrier wave. The RFID reader/writer (10) has a detection unit for detecting noise of the received signal received at the reception unit (12), and includes a control unit (20) which, prior to communication with the RFID tag, in a state in which the carrier wave from the transmission unit (11) is being output, controls the transmission unit and the detection unit so that noise included in the reception signal is detected at the detection unit. |
