PURPOSE: A system for opening and closing an electronic door lock and a method thereof are provided to open and close a door lock only with both an one-time password issued from a remote server through an authentication process and a fingerprint. CONSTITUTION: A system for opening and closing an electronic door lock includes a door lock, a door lock controller(150), a management server. The management server provides an one-time password to an accessor according to a request of the accessor. The door lock controller includes a door lock driving unit(151), a fingerprint sensor(159), a fingerprint authenticating unit(161), and a password authenticating unit(163). The door lock driving unit is connected to the door lock to open and close the same. The fingerprint sensor extracts finger print data from a fingerprint of the accessor. The fingerprint authenticating unit confirms the registration of the accessor by authenticating the finger print data. If the accessor is registered, the password authenticating unit finally authenticates the accessor by receiving the one-time password from the accessor.
