PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus that, when transferring foil on a foil transfer surface that is formed with toner, provides sufficient adhesive strength between the foil transfer surface and the foil, and forms an image identical to the original foil without deformation of the foil transfer surface due to heating.

SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming method and an image forming apparatus that form a foil transfer surface using toner having storage elastic modulus at 120°C of 1.0×103N/m2or more and 1.0×104N/m2or less, and apply the maximum pressure to the foil transfer surface at a timing of 0.1t or more and 0.6t or less based on the time t required for the foil transfer surface to pass through a nip part.
