Class 26 A refuse receptacle comprises a supporting structure 8 and 10, and an elongated bin 5 pivotally mounted at 6 for movement between a vertical filling position in which it is held releasably by a spring-loaded foot-operated catch 22 engaging a projection 27, and an emptying position as shown, the lower part of the bin being formed by a hinged door 17 which is held closed by an abutment 21 engaging a bracket 20 when the bin is in the filling position. A spring normally holds the lid 14 closed, and a paper or other sack may be used as an internal container. The receptacle is particularly described as adapted to be mounted near a ship's rail for ejection of the sack overboard. |
