摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve energy-saving, by improving durability of an electric power converter and peripheral equipment, by eliminating unnecessary electric power converting operation, by autonomously starting or stopping electric converting operation in response to an on-rail state of a surrounding electric railcar, in a regenerative electric power absorbing device applied to a DC electric railroad. <P>SOLUTION: A determining unit is arranged for determining the on-rail state of the surrounding electric railcar of the regenerative electric power absorbing device equipped in a DC electric railroad from a detected value of a line electric current of, for example, a DC transformer station. The determining unit also sends a stopping/starting command of switching operation to the electric power converter of a line electric power absorbing device in response to the on-rail state. That is, the determining unit sends a switching operation stopping command when determining that the line electric current of the all vicinal DC transformer stations is less than a threshold value and the electric railcar goes away, and sends a switching operation starting command when determining that the line electric current of any DC transformer station exceeds the threshold value and the electric railcar approaches. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
