<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic bipolar electrosurgical forceps for sealing and/or cutting large tissue structures. <P>SOLUTION: The bipolar forceps includes a housing 20, a shaft 12 affixed to the housing 20 and having jaw members 120 attached at a distal end thereof. Each of the jaw members is adapted to connect to an electrosurgical energy source, thus enabling the jaw members to conduct energy through tissue held between the jaw members to create a tissue seal. The bipolar forceps includes: a drive assembly which is operable to move the jaw member 120 relative to one another from a first position to a second position for manipulating tissue; a movable handle 40 which can pivot about a pivot; and a knife assembly 70 having a movable knife bar which includes a nearly T-shaped proximal end dimensioned to engage a corresponding slot defined within the housing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
