Provided is an audio recording device, wherein a plurality of microphones, including at least a first microphone and a second microphone, are disposed on each of a first casing body and a second casing body, at least one of the casing bodies being rotatably supported, said audio recording device comprising a function which records audio in a set prescribed audio recording mode. The first casing body and the second casing body are positioned in a vertical stack, and further comprise a means for setting the prescribed audio recording mode according to the relative locations of the first microphone and the second microphone. With this audio recording device, a prescribed audio recording mode is set according to the relative locations of a first casing body and a second casing body, thus allowing a user to instinctively set a desired audio recording mode.
