<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of suppressing a temperature fluctuation during a period during which LED deterioration and correction processing is performed, a control method thereof, and an image display device. <P>SOLUTION: A backlight device includes: emission control means for controlling respective emissions of a plurality of light source blocks; brightness detection means for detecting brightnesses of the light source blocks; correction means for emitting one light source block of the plurality of the light source blocks and sequentially performing correction processing which corrects an amount of luminescence of the light source of the light source block for the plurality of the light source blocks based on a comparison between the brightness value detected by the brightness detection means and its target value; and temperature fluctuation suppression means for performing temperature fluctuation suppression processing which simultaneously emits the plurality of the light source blocks including a light source block to be emitted by next correction processing to be performed during a prescribed period and with prescribed brightness each time the correction means performs the correction processing for one or more light source blocks. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
