<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional five-level power conversion apparatus has a large number of series connections of a DC power supply, has the expensive DC power supply, has a large number of semiconductor switch elements through which an electric current passes, and has a large loss. <P>SOLUTION: In the five-level power conversion apparatus including: a first semiconductor switch series circuit in which DC power supplies that are connected in series and are provided with three terminals and 2N pieces of semiconductor switches connected in parallel to the DC power supplies are connected in series; a third semiconductor switch series circuit which is connected in parallel to a second semiconductor switch series circuit that is a series connection circuit of two semiconductor switches connected to an intermediate point of the first semiconductor switch series circuit; a capacitor which is connected in parallel to the third semiconductor switch series circuit; and a first AC switch which is connected between the series connection circuit of the third semiconductor switch series circuit and the series connection circuit of the DC power supply, the series connection circuit of the second semiconductor switch series circuit is used as an AC terminal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
