Disclosed are an optical glass and an optical element, the optical glass comprising 2 wt%-10 wt% SiO2; 8 wt%-15 wt% B2O3; 25 wt%-45 wt% La2O3; 10 wt%-35 wt% Gd2O3; 2 wt%-10 wt% ZrO2; 2.l wt%-3.9 wt% WO3; and 5 wt%-12.9 wt% Ta2O5. The optical glass reduces the Ta2O5 content, while at the same time ensuring the optical parameters of the optical glass, wherein the refractive index is 1.86-1.89 and the Abbe number is 38.5-42.0; when the transmission ratio reaches 70%, the corresponding wavelength is below 380 nm.
