The device (1) has a spring unit (14), where a spoiler (2) is movable by application of a driving force (11) between a retracted rest position and an extended operating position. The spring unit is designed and arranged such that a spring force (12) is applied at the spoiler, where the spring force works in the same direction as the driving force by the spring unit during the extension of the spoiler. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a spoiler of a motor vehicle.
