<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive active material for lithium secondary batteries, a method of manufacturing the same and a lithium secondary battery all of which can improve cycle characteristics and battery capacity at low temperatures of lithium secondary batteries even if an inexpensive material, such as cobalt, is used. <P>SOLUTION: This positive active material for lithium secondary batteries is a mixed powder produced by mixing together: a lithium cobaltate particle powder (A) that has an average particle diameter of 5 to 30 μm and is produced by calcining a mixed powder of oxyhydoxide cobalt and a lithium compound; and a lithium cobaltate particle powder (B) that has an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 10 μm and less than the above average particle diameter (A) and is produced by calcining a mixed powder of tricoblt tetraoxide and a lithium compound; wherein a mixing ratio of the component (A) to the component (B) is (A):(B)=95:5 to 60:40 in terms of a weight ratio, and a tap density is 1.8-3.0 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
