A glass roll (1) wherein a resin film (3) is overlaid on the outer peripheral surface-side of a glass film (2) and wound around a winding core (4). The resin film (3) is overlaid on the outer peripheral surface-side of the glass film (2) while at a tension of 100kPa-1GPa. The thickness tg[m] of the glass film (2), the tensile elasticity Eg[Pa], the thickness tp[m] of the protective film, the tensile elasticity Ep[Pa], and the outer diameter R[m] of the winding core (4) satisfy the relationships {(tgxEg)/)(tpxEp)} x (tg/R)=0.1 and 1x10-5=tg/R1x10-3.
