The apparatus has a maintenance- and cleaning chamber, holders (3) provided in the maintenance- and cleaning chamber for retaining of instruments and a unit for supplying cleaning- or maintenance media to the instruments. A tempering device (9) is provided to temper a cleaning medium to a predetermined temperature range. A cooling- and heating circuit (8) is stand in connection with the holders. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and maintenance of medical, particularly dental instruments.
