A gas compressor and gas upgrade system for compressing and removing hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and other impurities from biogas comprises a solvent of high pressure fluid and a pressure vessel 101, 102 with a gas inlet 110, 115 for the gas to be compressed. As the high pressure fluid is pumped into the pressure vessel 101, 102, the gas is compressed, and H2S is absorbed into the fluid e.g. water. The compressed cleaned gas is taken from the outlet 109, and then the fluid is drained into a flash tank 120 containing floating balls. H2S is released in the flash tank where it reacts with oxygen, and mixing is assisted by the floating balls. The gas released from the flash tank is passed through a double walled coil 124 where further oxygen is added through perforations in the inner tube to remove traces of H2S. The system may have two pressure vessels 101, 102, and gas is alternately compressed in each of the vessels. |
